The High-SPL Recording Microphone 4007A is a phantom powered (P48) close miking specialist with an extremely linear on-axis response in an extended frequency range from 10 Hz to 40 kHz (±2 dB). This high-performance condenser omni mic has an unbeatable dynamic range of 124 dB from the noise floor to 1% THD and is capable of handling up to 160 dB SPL peak before clipping occurs, making it suitable for a wide range of applications from AB stereo pair to close miking tasks as well as measurement requirements. The 4007A has through its total acoustical transparency and ultra-high SPL handling capability gained a reputation as being the first choice for picking up drums, percussion and brass instruments, whenever the natural and non-distorted result is paramount. 4007A is, due to its linear qualities and perfect omnidirectionality, also used as reference microphone in both microphone comparisons and acoustic test equipment. At any time and with no tools necessary it is possible to transform the basic 4007A microphone into a new configuration by combining it with another DPA microphone capsule or preamp.

The DPA 4011A cardioid condenser microphone is an upgraded version of our classic 4011, renowned in recording studios and live applications around the world as an exceptional mic. State-of-the-art components have been carefully selected to provide optimal neutrality, accuracy, and extremely low distortion.

The principal appeal of the 4011A is its directional quality and attention to detail: everything sounds like the original. The first-order cardioid pickup pattern provides superb separation between sound sources when used as a spot mic on literally any style of live music, from rock ‘n’ roll to opera. The 4011A is equally suitable for close-up work on acoustic guitar, grand piano, overheads, percussion, wind instruments and vocals as it is for spot-miking symphonies. It can handle incredibly high sound levels and even includes a 20 dB pad switch in the center of the XLR connector to attenuate the output of the microphone.

A flat on-axis frequency response and excellent phase response deliver a totally faithful reproduction of the original sound. The off-axis response is similarly smooth so that any leakage is an accurate reflection of the original, though attenuated according to the true first-order cardioid pickup pattern. The sensation of “being there” will always be more intense with the DPA 4011A than with any other cardioid. Chosen for its qualities as an all-around performer, the 4011A is a great, clean-sounding colorless mic. The variety of applications is as wide as the imagination of the user.

Perfect for PA amplification and live recording of a cello, the 4099C offers a sound that is considerably more natural than an internal microphone or pick-up as well as several excellent placement possibilities. The 4099C is a unique clip microphone inheriting the sonic approach from the legendary DPA studio microphones to a new instrument microphone. The 4099C microphone and mounting system is meticulously designed and optimized for the violoncello. This is to ensure the best possible mount and audio reinforcement is achieved when performing live. Containing a d:screet Miniature microphone 4061 and a XLR adapter DAD6001-BC with a selection of our unique mounting accessories, this kit is designed to use as a close miking solution for a wide variety of musical instruments. The DPA 5100 is an exciting new mobile surround microphone whose compact size and ease of use come at no sacrifice to its stunning sound quality. It can be regarded as a surround ambience adder, ideal for bringing truly engaging surround ambience to sport events, documentaries and other ambience applications for especially HDTV production. No external signal processing is required. The versatile 5100 can be mounted on a camera or microphone stand, suspended, or simply handheld via a hand grip. Extremely lightweight and portable, the unit sports a surprisingly robust build quality that is also highly resilient to inclement weather conditions.

A completely self-contained “plug and play” solution for 5.1 audio capture, the 5100 employs five miniature pressure transducers that exhibit extremely low sensitivity to wind and mechanical noise, low distortion, highly consistent low frequency response and large dynamic range. Appropriate channel separation and directionality are achieved through a combination of DPA’s proprietary DiPMic™ (Directional Pressure Microphone) technology, which mounts interference tubes on the L/C/R omni capsules, and the use of acoustic baffles that further preserve the accuracy of levels between the discrete analog output channels.

The 5100’s three front microphones are time coincident to eliminate comb filtering and ensure paramount frequency consistency when downmixing to stereo or mono. In contrast, the rear microphones, which feature standard omnidirectional patterns, are optimally spaced from both each other and the front array to simulate the most natural time arrival differences. The LFE (.1) channel is comprised from a L/R sum, which is then attenuated 10 dB in comparison with the signal from the main channels, in accordance with the 5.1 format.

The end result of DPA’s innovative design approach is a surround atmosphere that is rich, smooth and fully enveloping, great in its coherence, channel separation and localization accuracy.
